Larry Rose was born in Trail, BC and grew up in Rossland, BC. He worked for more than 45 years in broadcasting and related fields. He worked for CBC Television News, Global News, The Canadian Press and, for the 24 years prior to his retirement, at CTV News in Ontario. His positions at CTV included Producer of CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson for five years and News Director at CKCO Kitchener (now CTV Southwest). Earlier he was a member of the faculty of BCIT in Vancouver teaching Broadcast Journalism for four years. Rose has a BA degree in History and Political Science and an MA degree in Political Science and Public Administration both from University of Victoria.
His military background includes seven years in the armed forces reserves. He graduated from the COTC program and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the RCAC in 1966. He was later a captain and the Adjutant with the British Columbia Regiment, an armoured unit based in Vancouver. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute in Toronto and at present the Secretary of Branch 165 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He lives in Toronto.
